As it nears the end of 2008….

Posted on Sunday 21 December 2008

Things are calming down… lots of people are taking the next few weeks off from work.
Many are hitting the road for a holiday vacation.

I am staying in town working.. I have my first children’s book due early next year.
It is for a Japanese publisher so I’m not sure if it ever comes here to the States. With a limited amount of time I have on this, I intended to do it all digitally but it just couldn’t capture enough of the “charm” I remembered I looked for in picture books when I was a kid. I’m trying my best not to delay my process just because I’m mixing my approach… let’s see how this goes…

And that’s why I can’t go anywhere this holiday season…. sigh…

Here(the painting in the front as well as the flower one in the back) is the sneak preview of the book…..As you can see, I’m mixing collage and oil——-boy, collage is lots of fun…

Very interesting post. I recall the “Traditional vs Digital” that you posted a few months ago. I supposed that you tapped into your inner child by going Traditional.

For the book, hopefully, Kinokuniya will carry. If not, I will order it via Amazon Japn.

thanks a lot! What is it about interviewing japanese students in your blog?

Thanks so much. Can’t wait what you’d do either!

You are the source of inspiration buddy!

Thanks bobby! Looking forward to seeing your new stuff too!

wow, I love the title image you have on your blog!
I sure hope the book will come out of Japan somehow.. Maybe some black market mafia will let it out…:)

    thank you!

I’m glad you feel the same! Hope book printing will capture it through too.

Yeah, I just get more and more convinced about my preference to traditional as far as capturing what I want from the piece. Maybe also because I do almost exclusively digital at work..

    thanks you Matt!

    No way man

It’s more of a combination of collage and oil painting. But more or less, every page will have some collage elements.

    Yeah man,
I”ll hook you up with the wood Iphone case with OOP logo on the back!

Hope you had a good holiday season man.
and hope your student show went successful!
