a thought

Posted on Monday 11 December 2006

I have been painting in both oil and digital for some time now. I do most of my professional film work digitally. My last graphic novel for Out of Picture was done mostly in photoshop with a bit of oil mixed up. I love painting in photoshop and it really makes things very easy and clean…. but there’s something about creating an original. And I am drawn more and more to that. So I am tossing this idea of painting my next comic almost entirely in oil. I’m not sure if it makes sense with my schedule but certainly it is worth a shot I think…

Just another life painting I did a while back.

Do it Dice! It will be worth it when you have all of these beautiful paintings. Besides, I need some more art in my apartment, and we’re going to trade with eachother. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, it is something I have been thinking about… after seeing Rebecca and Francois in Paris. You are definitely also an inspiration too. And yes! we shall trade! You promised I get to pick my favorite from your new children’s book!

Hee hee. This is from Art Students League. THat’s probably where you painted him? You know the painting i did of you is the most popular among artists. It is now owned by my painter friend Jie who is in my opinion one of the best painters alive!

    Hey Dice,
if you manage to schedule it with your other works, i feel you should at least start it that way… i also find helpfull to play with different ools for both worlds, pro and perso, same kind of reasons you mentionned. On top of that, you know how to paint, that helps ๐Ÿ™‚ See you next time in Paris.

    Long time no talk!
Yeah, i am pretty serious about it. If not 100%, I’d really love to do that this time.

It was a bummer we couldn’t hook up in Paris in September but I hope we can hang out next time! Are you going to Angouleme in January?

    Samantha
    thanks a lot!

Angouleme, probably… it’s just one hour from where i happen to live – makes it a lot easier than quicking the comic con in SD for me, no need for serious planning ๐Ÿ˜‰ if you are visiting again, mail me. Have a great ttime in Japan, winter’s a great season overthere.
