OOP 2 concept sketches..

Posted on Sunday 21 January 2007

Here is the sneak peak at my new OOP 2 story. It is about the unexpected harmony between this giant Samurai and the old lady who takes care of him.  Still trying hard to make sense with the story. We only have 14 pages max, so the key is keep it simple….but that’s the hardest thing in life isnt it!?  I am writing this story in Japanese.  I felt it was important to get the real feel for the story set up.  I will translate it to English later.

trying to push the design a bit… playing with graphic shapes a lot more. don’t know if I”m going to do this story digitally or traditionally…

Oh very nice.. Everytime i see a new painting i feel inspired to paint something. I also like how your playing with graphic shapes alot more now and you combine it really well with your painterly style. Keep it up.

    Superb job, Daisuke-san.
I really love that one. The combo between the ukyo-e background and the digital characters works perfectly for me. I like also the pattern on the kimonos.
    Bravo !

Great one here, Dice! You managed to combine textures and painting really seamlessly. I particularly like the flat pattern on the old woman’s clothing, mixed with the more dimensional feel of her arms/head. It’s exciting to look at. Keep posting!

Very appealing design Dice ! and you take up with a new challenge, expressing with a different style. A kind of return to your roots too.
Because Japan perfectly mixes in the architecture the respect of the tradition and the futuristic technology, I would say mixing oils paintings and digital
would be apposite . I can’t wait to see the result.
