Things are calming down… lots of people are taking the next few weeks off from work.
Many are hitting the road for a holiday vacation.
I am staying in town working.. I have my first children’s book due early next year.
It is for a Japanese publisher so I’m not sure if it ever comes here to the States. With a limited amount of time I have on this, I intended to do it all digitally but it just couldn’t capture enough of the “charm” I remembered I looked for in picture books when I was a kid. I’m trying my best not to delay my process just because I’m mixing my approach… let’s see how this goes…
And that’s why I can’t go anywhere this holiday season…. sigh…

Here(the painting in the front as well as the flower one in the back) is the sneak preview of the book…..As you can see, I’m mixing collage and oil——-boy, collage is lots of fun…
This looks like a lot of fun (even though having a nearing deadline isn’t). ?????????????Amazon.co.jp??????????????
Have a good holiday!
That looks Fantastic Dice!!! oooh I can’t wait!
Amazing!!!
That’s awesome!! Looking great Dice
Wow, that looks like a book I would love to buy when it comes out! Let’s hope it makes it out of Japan!

Man, I wish I can see that one for real, it’s so gorgeous !
Awesome, Daisuke.
I think the collage really adds something great to the piece. Great painting!
awesome, i love the style of your traditional work, and your right about the charm that its has over digital, ill just have to get a copy through amazon japan
Very interesting post. I recall the “Traditional vs Digital” that you posted a few months ago. I supposed that you tapped into your inner child by going Traditional.
For the book, hopefully, Kinokuniya will carry. If not, I will order it via Amazon Japn.

Very nice! Yeah, let all of us know when this book is going to come out. Hell, give us a link off a site or something to order it at least. Lastly ship the painting to my place.

I’m glad you feel the same! Hope book printing will capture it through too.
-CK
Yeah, I just get more and more convinced about my preference to traditional as far as capturing what I want from the piece. Maybe also because I do almost exclusively digital at work..
–Matt

It’s more of a combination of collage and oil painting. But more or less, every page will have some collage elements.
–Wille

I”ll hook you up with the wood Iphone case with OOP logo on the back!
–Francis
Hope you had a good holiday season man.

Looks fantastic. The colors are really beautiful as is the composition. Tight.
A bit late, good luck with that. If it can bring you some courage, I did the same, I worked everyday on christmas break, no time off. take care, it’s gonna be amazing!

I love the design, the mix of abstract and other elements. Fantastic. I hope they release it here in the states, too.
Mmmmm. can we see this book when it’s finished? Looks like some fine traditional painting!
