San Diego Comicon!!

Posted on Friday 23 July 2010

It’s this time of the year again.
I have done a few years to promote Out of Picture comics 1 and 2 at Comicon.
And then, I haven’t done it for a few years since I have not done comics since then.

Also, there has been so much going on with my family and also Toy Story PR.
Lots of amazing artists from all over the world will be present and I am bummed out that I cannot hang out with them!

I DO have very slight presence there though.
Graphic Collectible who is exhibiting and selling original art work of illustrators, is carrying a few of my original paintings. If you are at Con, check them out.

In the meantime, I have been painting in the morning, “early bird style” with Robert Kondo and Shelly Wan. It’s been awesome to get back into painting outside!

Rashmi from India here. Saw the Toy Story 3 artwork book in stores. Awesome. It is expensive here…1750 Rupees…but we shall get it when we save some money :D

Oh and can we see more close-ups of your paintings? May be some ppl are waiting to steal your images but many more want to see it up and close and learn a bit from them. :) keep up the good work…

Oh wow, these are beautiful. I especially like that bright blue reflection in the painting of the house, you are quite the colorist.

I’m sure like everyone else here I am a huge admirer of the way you use colour in your paintings and these are further proof of your skills :) It’s amazing how you can tell what time of day it was, what the weather was like – even the temperature! I find colour picking quite challenging – do you have any advice for beginners – like your squinting tip? Saw Toy Story 3 2D last week – it looked beautiful :)

    Kind regards,

    Cal

PS really looking forward to your Sketchoholic interview on Sunday :)
